Event Description:
In todays news cycles, fake news is real news; its just a matter of perception. So whats the angle? Just like phishing, fake news is meant to lure you into accepting a falsehood as the truth. Dont bite!

Wade Minter, public address announcer for the Hurricanes, will emcee the event and will lead five area experts in a whirlwind TedTalk-style conversation where each has five minutes to speak on the science and psychology behind fake news and current platforms available to help you detect fake news on the internet. That will leave plenty of time to get your questions answered and to mingle with a diverse group of participants from around the Triangle.

Sponsored by NC States Office of Information Technology and RTP180, this event is free and open to the public. Dell will provide free drinks by NC State Brewery, and Puppet will provide appetizers. There also will be opportunities to win great prizes.
