2018 OHRP Research Community Forum – Day 1 of 2

NC State is co-sponsoring a two-day workshop — providing financial support and IRB members who will serve as panelists — for IRBs and faculty, researchers or professionals involved in research involving human subject protections.The 2018 Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) Research Community Forum — Community Engagement: Current Challenges and New Directions — hosted by East Carolina University and presented in conjunction with NC State University, NC Central University, UNC-Wilmington, the OHRP, and the US Dept. of Health and Human Services, will be held Sept. 25 through Sept. 26, 2018 at the Hilton Hotel located at 207 SW Greenville Blvd., Greenville, NC.Day one of the workshop will be geared towards IRB members and administrators, researchers using humans as participants, regulatory specialists, contract research organizations, research personnel, and members of the research community. A special panel of IRB members — including NC State administrators — and Ex-Officios will present.Day two will consist of an open forum environment, which will be led by research experts, federal agents from OHRP and NIH, experts on community engagement, and UNC-system IRB leaders, who will share their perspectives and interpretations about how to apply human subject protections and conduct research significant to urban and rural environments, in a way that better serves those communities in which we reside.The costs for this workshop are:Day one only: $125Day two only: $175Both days: $275To learn more about or register for this workshop, visit https://rede.ecu.edu/communityforum/.
